nuno henrique, roberto burle marx: passarela

Passarela reúne Nuno Henrique e Roberto Burle Marx (1909-1994), dois artistas que partilham o interesse pela botânica e pelas espécies autóctones, a prática investigativa alicerçada em saídas de campo e um real entendimento da multidisciplinaridade. Assim, o consultório converte-se, literalmente, numa passarela ou ponte no tempo e no espaço entre um artista plástico e um arquitecto paisagista cujas práticas, quando postas em confronto, permitem questionar noções de escala, autoria e origem. Para além dos desenhos de Burle Marx e de uma escultura de Nuno Henrique, estas ideias são reforçadas através de um mural da autoria deste último que tem como matriz a planta de um projecto paisagístico do arquitecto, mas, também, com a inclusão na exposição de espécimes botânicos que Burle Marx identificou e catalogou e às quais o seu nome foi atribuído na nomenclatura científica.

Passarela brings together Nuno Henrique and Roberto Burle Marx (1909-1994), two artists who share an interest in botany and native species, in investigative practices based on field trips, and a true understanding of what a multidisciplinary process entails. Thus, consultório becomes, literally, a walkway (hence the title “passarela”) or a bridge in time and space between a visual artist and a landscape architect whose practices, when compared one another, allow us to question notions of scale, authorship and origin. In addition to Burle Marx’s drawings and Nuno Henrique’s sculpture, these ideas are reinforced through a mural by the latter which is based on a blueprint of a landscape project by the architect, as well as with the inclusion in the exhibition of botanical specimens Burle Marx first identified and catalogued and whose scientific nomenclature bears his name.
